Heavy on Snark, Light(ish) on Substance
These 12-year olds bring all the foul-mouthed, giggling, snarky panache of hip 14-year olds coupled with the wandering yet insightful analysis of especially precocious 10-year olds. This is Gawker-style "news" for the young end of the millennial set. That said, it's not bad if you can chew through the thick candy shell of shallow attitude -- but don't be surprised if you find the actual substance less than entirely nourishing; this should not be your main course. In short, this is decidedly third-string political analysis, though it's unique in that because most other third-string political podcasts are of the excessively wonky, catatonia-inducing dry variety, whereas this is some bizarro-world FM "zoo crew" as imagined by the high school debate team. (Between those extremes, I'd definitely put more money on this team eventually maturing into quality journalists; they've got the brains, and they'll eventually grow bored with waving their junk in public.) Definitely NOT essential listening, but enjoyable for the right type of listener. Specifically: If you are such a political junkie that you're already deep into the third-string bench (this is me); or if you're a below-drinking-age aspiring intellectual who can't quite stomach cask-strength journalism without a heavy pour of sour-mix attitude. If either of those sounds like you, enjoy. For all others, be advised.Read full review »

These reporters' judgments are based on how they think an issue will affect our country and human rights. This is an informative and fun...Read full review »
