There’s a tribe out there!
I discovered your podcast a few years ago when my last child went off to school. A journalist and unpublished author, I was so excited to get back to work but found myself flailing, unsure about my skills after a long break raising children and feeling the self-imposed pressure to start earning money to help support my family. Discovering your podcast helped ease me through that transition and continues to inspire me as I pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a published author. I found conversation I identified with and author interviews that reassured me this long journey to publication was not an indication that I was incapable, but simply the nature of the beast. Through the podcast I discovered the online courses at the Australian Writer’s Centre and completed several. I have a long list of books I want to read that I probably wouldn’t have discovered otherwise. I have now self-published three books, two of which serve fundraising purposes, been invited to hold author talks at libraries and, as Victoria went into lockdown, I was offered representation from a literary agent for an adult fiction manuscript I wrote as my family grew. I officially call my self an author now, a title you helped give me the confidence to do. Before starting work, I hook up to your podcast to walk with and be inspired by my virtual tribe. Thank you for your inclusive, fun and inspiring conversation and all the additional resources that come out of it. Please keep it up. NOTE TO AL AND VAL: Right this moment I am having a good giggle at your latest podcast in which you have just read out my review! Not only was I chuffed to hear this (mean every word, just saying) but I was so entertained by the discussion about my name on the review -Choppa. Let me settle some confusion. Yes, Choppa is ridiculously Aussie however it is my husband’s old nickname, which he appears to have used to take over our Apple/Podcast accounts. I had no idea my review posted under Choppa until now 😆. My real name is Karen Howie Casey and I can assure you I am female. Love your work. Now, back to that walk and Podcast.

A great mix of information and entertainment from these Aussie writing veterans (experience, not age!) with the regular "Writer in Residence" author interviews a particular...Read full review »

Congratulations on the Podcast – I may be late to the party but I have been listening to it for around a year now and as a writer who spends most days working alone (which I love just quietly), the podcast makes me feel like I am part of a community as well as giving me valuable tips and...Read full review »
