Brilliant!!
For as much as we love music, it's criminal how little attention/credit/time we give to songwriters. Well, justice is now being done by two lovely la's from Liverpool, Simon Barber and Brian O' Connor. What these guys get accomplished in an hour is really quite remarkable. Each episode begins with a wonderful and concise overview of the guest/songwriter's career and then on to what are invariably the most thoughtful and generous interviews you'll find out there in the podcast universe. One need only count the number of times the guests comment, "that's a great question!" as evidence of the acuity of their interviewing acumen. Simon and Brian are doing an invaluable service for song-lovers and aspiring songwriters, young and old, all with an infectious warmth and humor that will make you an instant convert. Loved the episodes with Graham Gouldman (the episode that brought me to them), Johnny Marr, Nick Lowe, Ron Sexsmith. Would love for you guys to do interviews with Gruff Rhys, Euros Childs, Mick Head, Jonathan RIchman, Ray Davies, Tim Wheeler, PJ Harvey, Mark E. Smith, Cate Le Bon, Roy Wood, Mark Mulcahy, Richard Thompson, Randy Newman. As Johnny Marr said, "it's really important what you guys are doing." Keep up the fantastic work! NickRead full review »

I don't think there's another podcast around of this type; Simon and Brian provide genuinely unique insight into the art of songwriting. It's informative and entertaining and is as much of a must-listen for aspiring songwriters as it is for those of us who are only involved in music...Read full review »

Utterly brilliant podcast. The two lads interviewing the songwriters really know their stuff and that comes through in the questions they ask. Only recently discovered this podcast and it's already an all time favourite. I'd highly recommend it. Keep up the good work lads!Read full review »
