Ways to use white pepper
From someone who loves it and uses it regularly: I love to add it to a homemade egg drop soup, along w sesame oil, a little sugar, & soy sauce. It’s also surprisingly good in a carbonara. I’ve put it chicken stir fries, I’ve added it to minced and deeply sautéed pork or turkey or beyond meat along w hoisin / oyster sauce and served that w lettuce and rice. To be clear- I give this poor rating not because I personally disagree with Alison’s opinions/advice re: white pepper. She is allowed to hate it. I am a big fan of her work, her recipes, her home movies, etc. I’m here for the opinionated Virgo energy. I understand that Alison can’t change her whiteness. But there is something about the two together that doesn’t lend itself to excellent feedback. The questions should go deeper and more nuanced, or lighter and more food related. It walks the awkward line because Alison is not a therapist, and usually really good advice is about going to the meat and potatoes of the issue, not staying surface level. What we all want from Alison is a podcast where she chats about what she made for dinner the night before. She might say that’s boring. Not for us!!
