Would be great if we could play episodes in US.

Always failing to download. Such a disappointment when it’s a great programme but constantly getting an error message. Come on BBC sort it out.

You can only listen to this podcast at BBC.co.uk/podcasts It’s not the only BBC one with this problem.

The best programme on Radio 4 by far.

Always a great podcast to have on at home. Matthew Sweet has a characterful voice and delivers his material with an enticing and entertaining style. Also used to live it when Neil Brand hosted and I think he still occasionally cameos! 👍

Is there an option to allow listeners in the US to access the episodes? It tells me it’s unable to download or listen to, possibly because of location? Thanks!

It just says “unable to download” for every episode

Why isn’t the podcast working?

There appears to be a regular broadcast so why isn't it downloading? If it's UK-only please mark it as such.Read full review »

This podcast always tells me it is temporarily unavailable.

These podcasts are short but convey the sounds to the visual. This is great for media students in school to extend their analysis of film and media. Mathew brings insight to film from the mood of the music ,not all young students have an understanding . These are outstanding programs.

Whilst I agree that this is a shortened format of the program on radio 4 I disagree that it is not a good podcast. It has information and provides me with what I need with regards to naming the composers and allows me the choice to access their music further. Also the length of the podcast is...Read full review »

I love this podcast, as it gives us all the wit of Matthew Sweet condensed into a reasonable space. I can always dig out the full-length music if I want to. I don't know how he gets the script passed by Radio 3. A wonderful mix of high and popular culture.Read full review »

I'm astonished by the criticism below. This is an erudite exploration of every aspect of cinema music with some highly illuminating insights into the art of movie music composition topped with fab movie trivia that I've been dining out on for years. It's a podcast - not the full...Read full review »

It has not downloaded in months which is a shame as it is a terrific show

Ive always been a huge fan of classical music but put off by the condescending elitism of certain personalities. the presenter of this podcast is an excellent example of the patronising, condescending elitism that makes music inaccessible. AVOID THIS PODCAST.

I listen to a lot of podcasts, including other BBC productions, but I can not get Sound of Cinema to download.

If you want to listen to music in a podcast labelled Sounds of the Cinema, think again. I've listened to a few episodes and all I hear is the presenter introducing music and then telling you all about how evocative it is, despite you not actually hearing any of it... It's like watching...Read full review »

The original radio show from which this podcast originates, is an hour long. The podcast version is a mere 20 minutes. The reason is simple - the music has been cut from full tracks for a few seconds. Presumably this is for rights issues, but it pretty much destroys the show as a result.

This podcast possesses a misleading title. If you are hoping to hear extended excerpts from the worlds greatest and the hereto less discovered film composers, lyricists, arrangers and vocalists to appreciate their genius and to embody the given title you will find theses are savagely cut to mere...Read full review »
