“Sound of Sanity is an informal podcast about cultural issues ranging from Jordan Peterson to pop culture to marriage and Christian living. They are unashamed of the word of God and don't give an inch to the evils of the modern culture, but at the same time they are wise, carefully parse things, and never come across as reactive. As a conservative, both politically and theologically, I find myself challenged from both sides. In any one episode I will find that I have quietly accepted liberal premises out of guilt or capitulation, and in another episode I will find that I am challenged to parse things with nuance and to get my hands dirty in the local church, rather than just engaging with Christianity on an intellectual level. You also know that all three hosts are real and have gone through real and dark struggles that Jesus brought them out of, so it never feels like they're flippant or shallow, even though there's a lot of humor.
Listeners should know that many of their episodes include a lot of music and sound effects, and nearly all of them include goofy skits. Some listeners won't like it, but their intention is to give the listeners padding so they can digest some of the more challenging content. Sometimes I disagree with the content, but I always feel like they don't mind that since they want to teach you how to think and not just what to think. They have encouraged me so much both in standing strong for the faith, going with my intuition a lot more, and also being careful not to just jump to conclusions. What more could you want?”Read full review »
