“I was completely hooked on Spybrary from the first time I listened. Host Shane Whaley is a clever and well-spoken interviewer, who takes his subject matter seriously but not overly so. Plus, he has a cool Welsh accent that helps set the mood. Some episodes cover deep dives into famous authors of the genre (e.g., Fleming and le Carre) while others include interviews with less well-known spy writers. Or, in the case of Jack Barsky, a very well-known actual spy. There's also much discussion of the crossover from books to film, especially as it relates to a certain Agent 007. The production values of Spybrary are excellent and each show moves along briskly, right down the "Lightning Round" of questions at the close. It's fun stuff, but even the most knowledgeable spy fan will learn something from each episode. I highly recommend it to any fan of spy books or movies.”Read full review »
