How I found Joe and the reason I follow:
I discovered Coach Joe through Vivoobarefoot’s Instagram. I scrolled through his posts and saw a video of him showing the trick to doing a getup (where you’re on one knee then just step/shift the other foot in front and vice versa so it flows much better) and I immediately got to the floor and tested it out. Let’s just say he got my attention and follow. Since then I’ve been listening to his podcasts and strictly adhering to the 10,000+ steps a day rule, usually accomplishing both at the same time.
You can tell through his podcasts and posts that Joe really cares about the well-being of his listeners.
My real life experience:
I stumbled upon episode 037 because I wanted to do and learn more about kettlebell training (except I don’t have any at home bc they’re all sold out due to quarantine and kinda expensive). Joe mentioned relieving shoulder pain and I’ve had pain in my right shoulder for about 6 months to the point where I couldn’t sleep on my right side. Even though I don’t have kettlebells, I’ve been using dumbbells instead to do the loaded carries for about 3 weeks and that pain is gone and I can sleep on my right side again. I still did the overhead dumbbell carries even though my right shoulder had pain. Oh and my shoulders and chest have definitely grown!
What I’d like to know more of:
Since you mention your mom here and there, I’d also like to read or hear more about how to keep elders (like in their 60s) healthy and fit, especially ones that have never been really into fitness.
