Hot Garbage
So, for the past few months I've been listening to SI's Fall of A Titan podcast on the murder of Steve McNair. The first episode was hot garbage. I listened weekly, undeterred. I don't know why. Maybe I hate myself? Some sort of twisted penance for unforgiven sins? Maybe I'm just hoping each episode was the last so I can tell myself I gave it a fair shot? I dunno. Anyway, the show has continued to be just trash. Like, "The CIA killed JFK" level of conspiracy theory peddling. Coupled with: - some sexism ("How could a petite girl have fired a gun and hit this big guy who was sleeping?"); - some ignorance of the law ("I got a response from the FBI saying it wasn't their jurisdiction..." / "So they're saying they don't think there's anything suspicious there?" / "Basically, yes"); - overreliance on third-degree hearsay ("McNair's friend said when he looked at the crime scene photos years ago he thought there was more blood in this spot than there should have been according to this theory"); - unimportant conjecture raised to unreasonable levels of importance ("there's no way Jennie could have hidden a gun while walking through Dave & Buster's without being seen"); and - taking things out of context for dramatic effect or skepticism ("gunshot residue on Jennie's hand means she was in the near proximity of a gun when it was fired")... ...this show is the worst. Avoid this one.Read full review »

A kooky disgraced professor ( although why he got the boot isn’t discussed. Loys of rumors unsupported by fact that are then repeated as fact,...Read full review »

This is one of the most irresponsible “True” Crime shows I’ve ever listened to. SI should be ashamed of themselves, but they clearly have no shame.

First episode..what a dud! Because a retired cop, who wasn’t on the case, thinks a petite 20yo can’t fire a gun that the whole case is suspect? What? Conspiracy theory much? Has this cop not heard of children finding a family members gun and harming/killing themselves or their playmates?!?!?!
