The other girls, Margaret, Polly, and Belle, all think she must be sick. Her mother, though, says she left home at the regular time, but she never arrived to class! It is starting to snow, so the girls all go out into the storm to look for their friend. To their surprise, a man in a sleigh offers to take them to where Emilie is.
