Repetitive and incomplete interviewing
Thought I’d try this out as a change from my usual topical news podcasts. Considering the episodes are so short I don’t know why they repeat so much information. The recent one on Netanyahu was interesting, but not only were some clips played more than once per episode, the “united by their hate of Netanyahu” part was trotted out at least 4-5 times if not more. Then the episode about sexism in medicine had the interviewer again repeating themselves, and failing to properly explore topics in any meaningful way. For instance the lady saying more transplant recipients are men (which the interviewer made her repeat, of course…) - the obvious question is ‘why?’, but it wasn’t asked. As it happens transplants have specific medical criteria, which are more frequently met by men as they have more risk factors for the kinds of diseases that lead you to end stage renal failure (among other things). However if you didn’t know that, you’d walk away from this podcast potentially under the impression it’s [sexist] doctors who pick out individual patients with unconscious bias. It was actually misleading not to briefly explain the ‘why’ here. Compared with the other topical news podcasts out there, the quality of this one is disappointing.

Obsessed sounds about right. Love this podcast, the variety of subjects discussed and the serene voices of the journalists. Definitely recommend.

A clear-eyed assessment of where we stand vis à vis the Coronavirus pandemic from Sir DavId King of Independent SAGE. And a worrying take on a second wave later in the year, given our present track-and-trace capability.

This is the best news podcast out there. Really enjoying the sound and archive used. I always learn something new. David and Manveen are fantastic. Would like to hear them do episodes together
