Do not glorify murder and profit from family trauma. We are human beings and don’t deserve to hear the voice of victims, our loved ones, silenced.

I’ve been looking for a podcast that offers short, engaging stories to listen to while working from home. I’ve always been a history buff, but my interests really shifted towards the history of the working class in America during COVID. This podcast is perfect for that. The episodes aren’t too...Read full review »

I am officially a fan! I love that I can listen to one in ten minutes or so. The narrators are clearly enjoying the telling of the stories, as much as I enjoy listening. Very wide range of stories.

Excellent and very informative on the history of Appalachia. I especially had a big smile when the guys were talking about my Great Great Grandfather Robert Enoch Withers on the June 11, 2016 story. Thank you gentlemen.

My people are from Lee Co. Virginia and I haven’t been down in years and years. It’s a comfort to hear stories from our little piece of the world. We have Appalachian tentacles all over the place. Thanks so much for telling our stories.

Love the podcast love the history and the genealogy I would be so interested in a story about the blue Fugates of Appalachia. They all suffered from hemoglobinemia and were considered famous in their own right. Keep the stories coming

Steve and Rod make history real! They tell us about the the history of Appalachia, as they say, one story at a time. Each of the topics or stories they choose are interesting, and their method of discussing it back and forth between them is very personable and natural. It is clear this podcast is...Read full review »

It's interesting how my eyes light up every Saturday morning when I see a new podcast is ready. Although I don't technically live in Appalachia, I'm not very far away. The NY/PA border. I consider it Appalachia. Anyway this is a good podcast. I would definitely love a few podcasts...Read full review »

This history podcast is a real gem! Having found this podcast on a best history podcast list, I listened intently to a well-told tale of John Oliver and fellow subjects, Mr. Oliver and I sharing common ancestors back in Virginia in the early 18th century. Great moonshine and intrigue story,...Read full review »

It’s obvious from listening that Steve and Rod love talking shop. This show reminds me of the podcast, Stuff You Should Know, but with an emphasis on Appalachian history. So, if you got a hankering for some real stories about East Tennessee and West Virginia, look no further.
