Story Grid- The key to my unblocking
I got to page 100 of my novel and just stopped. I’ve been blocked for about a year or so and I didn’t fully understand why until now. I’ve read about nine books on how to write a novel and have read countless other blogs and tip websites. While some of the information I've gleaned has been valuable, I really wish I had discovered this method earlier. Shawn is spot on with his analyses and recommendations, and it all just makes so much sense. In fact, many of his tips have sparked a chain reaction of ideas in me and I’m now more hopeful I can revive these long deceased pages of mine. Let’s face it, writing is really not rationally self-interesting at all. It’s arduous, maddening, humiliating, thankless, and downright ludicrous. However, when I play The Story Grid podcast, I am reminded over and over again why I am drawn to this craft and that is STORY. Thank you Shawn for just being smart and being right. I know all editors aren’t this good. You are really on to something with The Story Grid, and everyone should really check it out. Thank you Tim for having the courage to broadcast your writing journey! It’s so extremely helpful and I wish you luck as you find your way in this world.Read full review »

The premise for this podcast is great. Tim want to write the best book he can asking questions from Shawn to learn how to do it. Interesting and hugely useful.

I'm loving this podcast. I'm so glad I found it. I purchased The Story Grid in early December and read the book from cover to cover, but by easedropping on Tim and Shawn's conversations I now have a more in-depth understanding of the process that I would never have received from...Read full review »

I left the question mark in the title to intrigue the reader. Plus, I haven’t listened to every podcast about writing and story, but if I had, I’d have to imagine that Shawn Coyne and Tim Grahl’s Story Grid Podcast ranks among the best. I particularly appreciate Tim’s utter vulnerability in...Read full review »
