I had to listen to an episodic type story podcast for my AP Literature class and I chose this! It was amazing! I’ve only listened to the first two episodes so far but will definitely have to continue to see where it goes. Bringing in the different voices brought the whole plot together and gave a...Read full review »

This started out well but I have many unanswered questions: Why was there no real revelation about what happened to Dhillon? Was he injured or a qudraplegic? Why wasn’t he tracked down and interviewed. After all he was the reason for the story even being told. Also what happened to the...Read full review »

My cousin recommended this podcast and I listened to the first episode and I was thinking hmm where is this going..... after that I was hooked!

This podcast is so worth the time and I genuinely grew so attached to the main character, felt I knew him. Excellent story telling and a one of a kind story.

Total let down. This is a story about nothing which took the producers too long to figure out. This belongs on the cutting room floor.

This story is so tragic and captivating. I love the way it was told and the podcasters voice and side to the whole story. I only wish there was more! I don’t want to have to find something else. This was perfect.

One of my favourite listens so far. Tragic and beautifully done.

I really enjoyed the mystery, storytelling and personality in the first 2 episodes. In the next 3, the plot thickened and I was eager to see where it would lead. The last 2 episodes fell flat. The story line dropped and turned into something else completely. I’m left feeling unsatisfied, and not...Read full review »

This is one of those rare journeys into a maze of uncomfortable treasures. Forget the predictable and expected direction you think you are following. Listen closely and you will get lost. That’s the beauty of letting go and trusting the narrator. He is introducing a magical world as you walk thru...Read full review »

Here’s a podcaster/interviewer who really knows how to listen and to empathise with all the parties involved, in a community which might be written off by, at the very least, the liberal elite. It’s a slow unfolding of a number of relationships, some contentious, where he manages to coax their...Read full review »

I can’t say how much this story touched me. It made me feel all the emotions you could imagine. Mostly the reporting of one man’s life and memoir of his relationship to the world made you feel empathy for a stranger that makes you feel like family in the end. After hearing this story I wonder...Read full review »

This is totally different from the true crime genre I normally listen to. It was the best podcast I have ever listened to. I laughed and cried and laughed! Great story and the storyteller was awesome !

What a wonderful story! My love and thanks go out to you and and all who put this together. I’ll miss John though I never knew him and that is the effect of a true story teller.

I love This American Life, working my way through the archive of shows, listened to all episodes of Serial and Nice White Parents. All are consistently brilliant. I thought S Town would be more incredible investigative journalism and got that but also got the beautiful telling of one person's...Read full review »

I’m an emotional wreck from this, but it is an interesting story. If you have trouble with a lack of closure I maybe wouldn’t listen. Very good though.

The storytelling in this series is some of the best I have encountered not only in podcasts but also in all media. Fantastic work, and inspired me to start my own podcasts as well:

Brian Reed is a beautiful storyteller and accomplished journalist who doesn’t miss a beat on either side of arguments or the in-between. He finds beauty where there is seemingly none to be found; light in a gray area. I have just finished the series moments ago and am already emotional over it...Read full review »

This was a really gripping story. My only gripe is that the host doesn’t seem to get that he’s not going to understand people in Woodstock until he can drop his privileged NYC lens. Yes, Tyler thinks what he does is justified because he’s had a VERY different life than Brian Reed. It’s not an...Read full review »

I’ve read the arguments from the family of John B. I feel for them - but - this feels to me lik a moving tribute to a complicated man. The writer clearly appreciate and was moved by John B and presents an amazing portrait of a man I’d have loved to have known. None of us are polished. All of us...Read full review »

This was one of the first serial podcasts I listened to by way of a suggestion from a friend. I kept riding my lawn mower for three hours just cuz I couldn’t stop listening. Been chasing the podcast dragon ever since. You can listen, but be prepared, you won’t find another one that compares.

I had heard bits and pieces about how amazing this podcast was, but I was absolutely not prepared for how it would make me feel. It struck me to the core, it went so deep, but at the same time left me with a strange sense of emptiness and so many questions. So well made, well done to all involved.
