My favorite podcast of all time.
I listen to this about once a year now. It’s totally engrossing, and this will be the best writing and storytelling Brian Reed ever does, because it’s not reporting, it’s like... confessing what happened to you after a traumatic and life-changing event. It’s like Brian trying to make sense of all of this, and it’s bigger than the sum of its parts. It’s not just about crime and race and class, or family or tragedy or murder or sex. It’s about life and mortality, and about TIME, of all things, so “Tedious and brief.” It’s about one life and all of us. It’s beautiful.

Is it just me or does chapter five play when you put on chapter one? Help a girl out. Where is chapter one?

I listened to episode 1 which actually ended up being episode 3. Were these posted incorrectly and then fixed? Super annoying.
