thoughts of home
a few days ago, i was at the park enjoying a beautiful day with my girls. listening to this podcast made it more so. i thought my feelings of contentment stemmed from the wonderful and nuanced conversations the hosts have with their amazing guests and between themselves. but as i was basking in the sunshine, i realized the hosts reminded me of the queer folks i knew as a child. one of the delicious delights of being a kid was if i was quiet enough, i knew i could listen in on grown folk talk when my mother had her friends over. to hear them talk about politics, gossip, and family lore unfiltered was such a treat. they were so unlike the strict churchfolks i knew, always quick to correct a child. whether it was on our front porch, at my godsister's or at a cookout, i always felt loved in that space. i don't have a whole lot of positive memories of childhood. listening to your podcast helped me uncover those glimmers of joy. thank you.Read full review »
