One of the best podcast series I have ever listened to. Wow.

I don’t know what to think about war, I don’t understand why we send our bravest to die on foreign soil. I pray that those who send our soldiers to war listen to how devastating it is. Arguing about the “woke mob”, while young men and women are being slaughtered. How ugly.

I found the entire podcast brilliant. It is presented with honesty & humanity toward every individual and family affected by the tragedy of death by friendly fire and the abysmal betrayal of trust on the part of the military. The integrity of the reportage is beyond questioning. MBrandes

There were many hard, but much appreciated truths in this podcast. The narration communicated the gravity throughout, giving respect to the fallen, the survivors, and the families impacted. The Marines interviewed about that day gave some of the most impactful, insightful, and heart-breaking...Read full review »

Awesome reporting, investigating, but most importantly: the delivery is incredible. Hopeful this crew will keep producing similar deep-track honesty.

Amazing reporting, admirable dedication & diligence to uncover important issues and share lessons learned. Brought tears to my eyes with every episode, but I’m so grateful that these incredible reporters are getting to the root of a terrible situation - hopefully that will bring some peace...Read full review »

Thank you for telling this story. I appreciate that this felt like a genuine search for the truth for the families of those lost. I didn’t feel like this was a witch hunt to vilify the United States Marine Corp. or the United States Govt. I greatly appreciated that you never gave up finding...Read full review »

The series is riveting, full of heart, and revelatory without undermining the dignity of its most vulnerable human subjects. Thank you so much.

Absolutely magnificent reporting and investigation. This podcast has opened a new chapter for me as I process my own experiences.

Not much I can say after reading through the previous comments. I'll only add that the research is impeccable and presented in a way that grabs and holds your attention. NPR podcasts, as a whole, are always some of the best around. ("Not much I can say" ... blah blah blah. You can...Read full review »

I started the podcast on Memorial Day to try to learn something new about the sacrifices our military and their families make. This delivered on every level. Highly recommend.

This is a must listen podcast series. What a travesty by the DoD but right on brand. And the DoD wonders why they can’t meet recruiting goals…

I can appreciate the amount of work that went into this report. The hours and hours of research and the money spent. However, it’s hard for me to see who benefited from knowing it was a mistake that killed theses soldiers. It was war that killed them. All this did was was bring more pain to all...Read full review »

Exceptional reporting by NPR! As a Marine of nearly 30 years and a 2/1 alumni of the OIF deployments, this piece strikes close to home and is an excellent example of why my fellow warriors would do anything for leaders like Ben Wagner and John Toolan while a political animal like Olson has always...Read full review »

No matter where you stand on the Iraq war, this podcast is a must listen. I’m especially heartened by their presentation of the Iraqi interpreter’s family and their conversations with the Iraqi locals. While government coverups are nothing new, the question I’m left with in this case is … why!

Thank you for creating this podcast. My brother, a Marine, was a member of Echo 2-1 and was at the school house that very day. Our country asks a lot of those that volunteer to service. We owe them the truth. When those in leadership are not truthful they need to be called out and held accountable. This podcast does the first, we wait for accountability.

This is a well written and well done podcast. I have told all of my friends and family to listen. It seems sad that our military would make such poor decisions. Infuriating as it is thorough. If you had any respect left for military institutions after the last 20 years’ revelations, get ready to lose it. I wish more people would take the time to listen to quality counter-narratives like this; the world would be a better place. Excellent.

This show is case and point of why I’m still glad to live in America.
