Polish is often regarded as one of the world's most difficult tongues, and few people undertake the Herculean task of learning it as a foreign language. Challenging the stereotype, the Polonicum Centre of Polish Language and Culture for Foreigners , a research and didactics centre,  at the University of Warsaw has for years been conducting classes in Polish for foreigners.

The Polish language is reportedly used by 45 million people, over 38 million of whom live in Poland. More and more people around the world, however, are learning Polish as a foreign language. In this radio programme, we look at initiatives by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) to teach Polish in India.

Created in 2017, the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) was set up to foster Polish science and higher education as well as to promote the Polish language abroad. One of its recent multimedia projects is called “Taking Polish around the world”.
