The content is useful but you need to tell the listeners what tones the vocabulary has. I don’t understand the use of guests, other than you’re teaching them Chinese and there is some weak link of why they have been asked to be on the show. It would be so much better without the guests.

Very useful and helpful words: all the teachings are few words a day and easy to remember: repetition and frequent listening make me more remember. Thank you very much for your wise way of teaching method. Awesome lessons. To remember, I have to recall and listen at least one lesson a day, every...Read full review »

The podcast is very interesting and helpful. I found myself going over the words that I know well just to get the history of the characters and some interesting usage in the past. It allows me to feel the language on different level. Yes, sometimes they talk too much but that’s exactly the time...Read full review »

I’ve been listening to this podcast for 4 months and just want to say - it’s a waste of time, they don’t speak Chinese, just blablabla in English. There are lots of much better podcasts. Unsubscribed.

I’ve tried a lot of language learning podcasts, and this is the best by far at breaking down each word and explaining everything. Fantastic!

I thought I wasn’t able to learn a new language at my 50’s but Ms Shaolan proved me wrong with her unique style; an interesting blend of fun, intellect and purpose. 謝謝老師 你是最棒的! Thank you very much!

I’ve been trying to learn Chinese for years. I love the short, topic specific shows that I can listen to in the morning as I’m getting the day started. Two things this podcast does extremely well: Brevity and outlining of interview questions Chinese etymology Never stop learning! As far as I know the Taiwanese are reserved and closed up (almost tormented) people in general but the hostess should work on being more relaxed and genuinely interested in what guests have to say. Just pushing for Chinese without regards for timing and the awkward artificial laughter is painful...Read full review »

I love this podcast. It’s super quick and yeaches you practical words in Chinese with context on how it’s used and the origin of the characters. No matter if you’re a beginner or almost fluent this pod can still help you boost your conversational skills. This show focuses mostly on vocabulary and phrases rather than listening and most of it is in English. I love the variety of different topics that aren’t covered in basic Chinese courses until much later. Shaolan’s explanations about culture and the characters help me to remember them.

Thanks so kindly Shaolan. I managed to get through ALL 365 of your podcasts!
