I just listened to this podcast for the first time. Dr Ashley Shew was a fascinating expert guest, but she rarely got the chance to delve into her ideas in depth. Instead, she was constantly interrupted by the host, who chattered on at great length, injecting tangentially relevant personal...Read full review »

The subject matter is great but Cara’s extreme case of “vocal fry” makes it a hard to listen to. Perhaps a speech therapist could help her be the best version of herself.

Did you know Cara did 9/11? Any way this is an excellent way to learn about interesting topics. It’s a very good pod cast. Also she guests on GAM and she can be funny too.

Discovered Cara because of God Awful Movies and she’s just as funny but also informative. Great podcast with a great host

I’ve been listening for many years now and I’m constantly impressed with these interviews. Cara isn’t asking the standard interview questions. Instead, she gets to know the author and really gets at what is important to them. We learn science on a level that is relatable. The interviews are...Read full review »

This is an impactful and informative Podcast! I get so tired of a singular ideology or narrative being pushed on me. We are so close to to an inclusionary society, and this I believe is the way we can make it to the finish line. It has been so refreshing to have this Podcast as resource to...Read full review »

During a time in life when I simply could not listen to yet another man talk about science, I found Talk Nerdy with Cara Santa Maria. I look forward to every episode. No matter what the subject is, I will always be enthralled! It’s a great podcast. Listen to it.

Recovering from a broken leg I have had the time to listen to the back catalogue of Talk Nerdy. I am so appreciative of the research work, care and attention to representation that Ms Santa Maria brings to her podcast each week. Thank you!

Cara Santa Maria is an amazing thinking and thoughtful science communicator.

Every time I listen to Cara Santa Maria I get energized, provoked (in a good way) and learn something science-y. Her podcasts are lively, wild and informative while always managing to communicate something interesting and new! As a scientist and nerd myself, it’s perfect.

Nah
Cara is very self-righteous and pretentious. Either you agree with her or you are an idiot.

Cara sets up such excellent people to interview who are clearly experts in their own fields. I love her incredibly thought provoking questions and comments that show how thoughtful and brilliant she is
aosmitty13 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/15/21
Cara’s extensive experience in both the ‘soft’ and ‘hard’ scientific fields gives her a unique and insightful position to interview from. The array of topics is vast so the podcast itches that pestering scratch of curious minds.

Cara, is a highly charismatic, articulate, witty and brilliant individual. The problem I have is that she dominates every discussion. I found this from suggestion based on what I’ve been listening. Cara Santa Maria is excellent in her field. But god she is a terrible listener. Rarely allows her guests to finish their stories. And when she does interrupt (I always press forward) , she goes on for 2 mins straight! (I listened to...Read full review »

The topics vary from almost anything you can imagine. Biology, astronomy, physics, philosophy, culture, etc. you name it she has it. I love Cara on SGU, but on this podcast, just endless chatting about stuff, not science. If she could channel her SGU self & put it on a podcast, I’d be happy.

Since she covers different science topics I get lost sometimes but still enjoy listening to things I never even thought about. Loved the one with Ann Druyan!

Each episode is a high quality extended chat with a guest. Within this meandering format, Cara humanizes her guest and brings out the important ideas in the guest's research or occupation. About half the books I purchase come to my attention through this podcast.Read full review »

Listened to TN based on Alie Ward's rec. Main issue is having to wade through Cara's polticial leanings and ventings, in order to extract any nuggests from the interviewees. There are plenty of times to wax political WHILE interviewing the guest; for example David Shariatmadari speaking...Read full review »
