Woooooooooooord!
There’s nothing like walking to uni listening to the latest episode of Talk the Talk. I’ve never been able to listen to any podcast – except this one! It is a real treat for the ears. Dear Daniel Midgley, you are the Stephen Fry of Linguistics. I admire your ability to unpack complex linguistic concepts. You define and exemplify them so well. It’s always crystal clear. I also love all the interesting studies you mention throughout your show. And it’s just so much fun! I’ve recently read on the news that Alan Turing, WWII codebreaker, might be posthumously pardoned. And thanks to your show and your episode on breaking codes (episode 96, “The Copiale Cipher”), I knew who he was (and felt a bit smarter!) Talk the Talk is a fun, pedagogical program in which you’ll learn some of the fascinating things about language and have a good laugh at the same time (coz they’re funny peeps presenting!) The Daniel-Ben or Daniel-Jess duos work really well (love the complicity). Both entertaining and interesting, this is a not-to-be-missed podcast!

I feel anyone can find something on each show to get excited about, almost like you want to participate in the conversations the hosts are having to ask more questions or give more examples! It’s the first podcast I’ve ever listened to and I’ve been following it for a few years. It’s so well...Read full review »

I’ve been listening to this podcast for years and if you’re not an expert in linguistics (just as much if you are!) this is possibly the best podcast to be initiated and to expand your understanding of this fascinating field!
