91 octane gas
Do any of you know why it's so hard to buy 91 octane gas? I've owned a number of high performance cars, including 5 BMWs, 4 Porsches, Audi S4, VW Golf, and a Mercedes E400. They all take 91. Who buys 93? I've heard that California has banned 93. Can I use 89? Why am forced to buy an octane that no one seems to need at a higher price? Can I just put 89 octane into my cars and assume the on-board computer will sort it out? Is it just the old nonsense that higher octane is "by definition" better gas? I hate being ripped off.
