I loved both series and felt like it has given me an understanding of some of the building blocks on which our culture is built. It’s remarkable how often you come across the political philosophers discussed in day to day life. Rousseau, Schumpeter, Bentham, Arendt, Hayek, Fanon Luxemburg etc etc. And now I have a basic - very basic - understanding of who they were and what they stood for. But make no mistake - this is hard work! Nietzsche in 45 minutes? I listened to each episode three times and even after that I could still only give you a very general outline of the thinking of each philosopher. So I am going to need that book!
