14| Instrumental Music Debate At Lads To Leaders

Description
A major question asked in the Church is whether or not the Bible gives us the authorization to use instrumental music in worship towards God. Because of this, the proposition for Lads To Leader’s 2024 debate was “The use of instrumental music in the worship of God by His Church is not authorized by His word.” With the permission of my debate partner and the other team, they allowed me to record the first half of our debate. In this portion of our debate, my partner and I are on the affirmative side, which means we believe that the Bible does not authorize instrumental music in worship. Later on that day however, we had to switch sides and argue that the Bible does allow instrumental music in worship. Because of this, we had to argue for one side in which we believe, and one side that we did not believe at all. We had to look at both sides of the argument and learn how to argue for them both. So the opposition in this debate do not believe musical instruments are authorized for worship, but in this debate it was their turn to be on the negative side and argue against the proposition. The first affirmative constructive was done by my partner, Madeline. Then there was the first negative constructive, second affirmative speech (mine!), and then a second negative speech. Then we were given 5 minutes to put together our rebuttals and 3 minutes to present them and defend our case. The rebuttals begin around the 19 minute 38 seconds mark. Thank you for listening to this portion of our debate, and I hope you can see how important it is to study both sides of an issue. When you do, you can see where other people are getting their own answers from and you can see how to defend your own, but it also makes you more confident in what you believe and in what the Bible teaches. 1 Peter 3:15 --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/allyson-tanksley/message
