“Most episodes feature excerpts of various TED presentations where speakers make their cases quite articulately with a good amount of science backing up their claim, interspersed with short interviews conducted specifically for the show. Unfortunately, the quality of content is inconsistent. For example, Buggy Brain episode is great, but Food Matters loses the plot fairly quickly. Here are some of the gems from one of the hand picked speaker that goes unchallenged by the interviewer: "Agribusiness has never produced anything good to eat" Really? "I can never eat that fish" upon learning that the fish is fed chicken pieces that otherwise would go to waste. Apparently, it is OK if a fish is fed other fish, but chicken is unthinkable. Why? Who knows? Recycling is fine, but of course not when it comes to his fish. The same speaker also says our agriculture does not need to be efficient, as we already produce enough calories to feed everybody on earth already. That may be true of course, but when he is the one doing the eating, it is nutrition and the flavor that matters, not "cheap calories". He needs impeccable tasting fish. When it comes to poor of the world, suddenly the yardstick is back to calories. Tough luck if the poor wants to eat meat, which requires even more plant based food to grow.”Read full review »
