I wasn’t crying… I just had something in my eye!!
My GF and I have 1 rule in our car…”WHOEVER DRIVES, CONTROLS THE AUX CABLE”. Needless to say it was her turn to drive which meant that i would have ‘no say’ in what we listened to. I would be held hostage by her chosen podcast for the rest of our journey. I was dreading the journey ahead. The title of the podcast came up on the dashboard display screen “S1 EP1 - In Search of a Crowd”. The podcast cover art also came up next to the title. To me the cover art looked extremely girly. I rolled me eyes and I sighed. I would consider myself a man’s man so I begged and pleaded with my GF to let me have the AUX today and she could have it next time. My pleas fell on def ears. The podcast starts, the host introduces herself and her guest. The guest begins to tell her story. At first I thought this was just another ‘For women, by women podcast, BUT as guest told her story I started to identify with some of the things she was talking about. There was a particular part where she talked about her relationship with her father. that’s the part that caught me off guard. As she described her relationship with him it stirred up a mixture of emotions for me. Emotions I may or may not have chosen to bury. This part of the podcast really resonated with me. It was at this point that something flew into my eye and tears started to roll down my cheeks. I wasn’t crying. Long story less long. This was a fantastic podcast; A fantastic episode that I wasn't expecting and wasn’t prepared for. Would I recommend this podcast?? It’s an astounding yes!! Would I listen to it again? Yes! Would I admit this to my GF? Hell no!Read full review »
