I recently started listening to Freakonomics (2 or 3 months ago) and was excited for this "game show" style podcast. But it was a pretty big disappointment. One of my biggest problems was with the relationship between the judges and the contestants. The judges, who all seemed well acquainted with speaking publicly, contrasted really heavily with the contestants, who, at no fault of their own, sounded like they were just reciting the information they'd memorized for the show. The jokes and the "back and forth" between the judges and contestants sounded so contrived because it was almost like the judges tried to compensate for the contestants' lack of stage experience. Not sure of how to resolve this, because that contrast is inevitable, but it was kind of hard to listen to sometimes. I'll give it a couple more episodes, but I sure hope it improves!Read full review »
