“I love so much about this podcast: Going over these albums track by track and getting into detail on the making of, facts and trying to work out what makes these albums so significant. I see complaints about Josh not being knowledgeable music historian, he’s mentioned several times that he’s not. This is someone who doesn’t go deep with music starting to. Having some rock historian expertly explain to you in detail why an album is great would be cool, but a different story. I enjoy the ‘amateur’ discovering music that he’s never heard or had dismissed. He’s had opinions I wildly disagree with, but that’s because they’re opinions.
I really don’t like the squibbilies though, they bother me to the point, the Flanders comparison below totally makes sense. And that it doesn’t matter if the guest is on board with the joke or not makes it rough: When he spends a minute singing a ‘song parody’ at a guest that’s mostly skee bop biddilies and no jokes and the guest is just like, “Uh, ok?” It’s painfully cringey, comedians are typically better at ‘reading the room.’
Unlike some of the other reviewers who comment about this: I like Josh overall! When he drops the ‘act’ and is just himself, he’s cool. I enjoy his legitimate excitement about music. Odd to say I like this comedian when he stops trying to be funny, but here we are. Overall fantastic podcast, but every skeep bop biddily (frequent) is painful and brings the show to a grinding halt. Please keep up the good work but a reduction of scatting would improve the podcast tremendously.”
