I started listening to this a few days ago and really enjoy it. The topics are interesting and the show is well written. The host keeps your attention, and I enjoy his dry sense of humor! I thank him for all of his hard work and study!

A very metered British accent conveys the meticulously curated research on all things Victorian. Owen really enjoyed the episodes on Charles Darwin. So much knowledge was gained during the listening of those episodes. Please give the podcast a listen if a title peaks your interest. You will not...Read full review »

This is a great podcast and the creator combines both excellent narration and very insightful information. I especially like how he constantly puts everything into context of how people of the era thought with a relatively unbiased view. My only complaint is that he tends to spend way more time...Read full review »

I stumbled on this podcast by happenstance but am thrilled. I began at the beginning and have listened to two years worth of episodes within the last week. Chris’ Podcast is one of the few I’ve found compelled to subscribe to. The time he spends on researching the topics is obvious. As an Australian who’s lived in the UK for many years, I do appreciate the inclusion Australia, NZ and other parts of the empire, as it was. Personally, I admire the...Read full review »

Chris brings the intricacies of the era and the events that take place and pieces them together with the context needed to feel like you are there. Such a global and broad perspective but it’s the hone in on the important details that makes this podcast series unique - and Chris’s own humility,...Read full review »

I’ve been listening to many British history podcasts, including the British History Podcast with Jamie and Pax Británica with Sam, and this one is right up with the best! Chris’s clearly passionate about the topic, approaches it from a unique angle and is thoroughly engaging. I highly recommend!!

I love this podcast. I will admit I had to get used to the narrator’s voice becoming Queen Victoria, but I give him an A all the way around. He’s honest and funny and knows his stuff!

There are a good handful of British history podcasts, but I appreciate that this focuses on a specific age of history that spans less than a century. This podcast is also a perfect complement to the Forgotten Wars Podcast which focuses on British involvement in Southern Africa during the...Read full review »

It’s a great podcast. I have listened to many history podcasts looking for information about this particular period but they only had a few episodes about it and Age of Victoria is exactly what I was looking for, a deeper monographic podcast with lots of interesting facts and information all in...Read full review »

Wonderful podcast, great writing and subject matter. Only thing preventing five stars is using a weird falsetto voice when quoting Victoria which sounds odd and distracting. Would be better just quoting her in his normal smooth voice or use a female for those parts. Otherwise one of my favorite...Read full review »

I rarely review podcasts, but I just had to take a moment to do so whilst listening to the 2017 Christmas Special episode of Age of Victoria. This episode is a nearly hour-long dive into Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” that is far more interesting than I expected it to be. It’s a relatively early...Read full review »

Chris Fernandez-Packham is exploring the processes of imperialism and colonialism through the eyes of the people of the day rather than simply applying a modern point of view. He is not an apologist for the imperialists, but he is trying to help us to understand how they felt about what they were...Read full review »

I wasn’t overly enthusiastic about the Victorian era, but this podcast has converted me. Chris brings you deep into the mind of the Victorian, whilst contextualizing the philosophy of the era from our viewpoint. I always look forward to the next episode.

Very well written and researched with a lot of personality in the podcast (in a good way) that keeps the show interesting and fun. Can’t wait to hear more about the East India Trading Company and colonization.

Chris has a lovely voice. His podcast is now well edited, and it’s an accurate description of Victorian England, but can be quite light-hearted at times. It makes a fantastic listen for a Sunday walk. I can almost hear Chris reading this review in my head!
