Ruined By Success
This used to be one of the very best photography podcasts and was always a “must watch” but, very sadly, along with it’s rise in popularity it’s lost something. Like an edgy and talented rock band who eventually get “discovered” - the success swamps the creativity and freshness and then it's just “another band”. In much the same way Art of Photography has become just "another podcast”; contrived and rather empty when compared to it’s former self. The Art of Photography has become a pastiche of the highly influential Casey Niestat’s style and methods, using jumpy editing and music cliches with too much repetition and empty technique in place of solid, meaningful and interesting content. One of the very worst examples of this is the “iPhone X: Deeper Pixels” episode) which severely tempted me to unsubscribe. The music and editing techniques are so obvious and in your face that they smother the real content. Sadly The Art of Photography has become a victim of it’s own success and Ted Forbes has resorted to well produced style over substance and it often feels like watching a taped episode of a game show over and over. No longer fresh and interesting The Art of Photography is just "another podcast" that I’ll watch occasionallyRead full review »
