Director Blake Edwards and composer Henry Mancini had been working in Hollywood in relative obscurity for a while, but in 1961, they blasted into superstardom with the release of the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's. The Oscar-nominated song "Moon River" became one of the most popular songs that year, though studio executives had briefly fought to cut it from the movie.
