Amazing storytelling
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had an obsession with maps. As a kid I would draw maps of places that were in my head — always pretend cities where I would want to live, where roads and transportation were infinitely more interesting than where I grew up. In another life, “urban planning” would’ve been my calling. So this podcast is a dream. My first extended time in Boston was the summer of 1996 — I took the train from my aunt’s place in Concord to the old North Station, and walked to my internship on North Washington. The central artery bifurcation, the tunnel connecting the north end to the rest of Boston — now that I’ve lived here longer than my home state, it’s increasing hard to remember what the city looked like before the Greenway. This podcast brings it all back.

I grew up in East Boston in the 50s and 60s. The episode about airport expansion was so well done. Thank you.

I enjoyed hearing it from the different perspectives of the people who lived it, worked on it and made it happen. What comes through to me, more than malfeasance, is dedication, vision...Read full review »
