Thoroughly enjoyed the story which covered politics, engineering, history and even psychology - using original media about a story that was part of my own history with Boston.

Who knew a story about infrastructure could be so entertaining. I loved it, blew through it in a day.

I really enjoyed this. Smart and informative. You don’t need to be a Massachusetts resident to appreciate the amazing interconnection among engineering, construction, politics, history, environment, politics, etc. Entertaining and fascinating.

Really powerful storytelling. For those of us seeking to build the infrastructure necessary to combat the climate crisis, this should be required listening

A binge worthy podcast about infrastructure. I’ve never even been to Boston and this had me hooked.

Whoever the genius who has long sustained humming for half of every show should be removed from humanity.

A fascinating story about the Big Dig. But too much irrelevant detail and some editing to shorten it could be worthwhile. And the host has a perfect voice for speaking to the deaf. Very annoying, lib NPR uptalk and a little lisp to make it worse.

I hope we get many more about how non-elected “authorities” circumvent Democracy at a fundamental level. Bob Moses plays a minor/major role here like a discordant musical chord. He deserves more, extensive investigation into his role in the destruction of Communities Of Color across the nation,...Read full review »

I’m a transportation city planner, transit specifically, and I learned so much in such an easily digestible way! Ian did a terrific job tackling this behemoth of a subject; couldn’t have like it more.

One of the best podcasts I’ve listened to!! I LOVE that The Big Dig podcast team was able to interview first-hand accounts. My sister even wants to get married at the Rose Kennedy Greenway above the central Artery. Such a beautiful greenway throughout downtown and so Boston. Despite the projects...Read full review »

I’ve always wanted to dig in deeper on the big dig, this has it all. I lived in the area 1998-2000 and worked briefly as a surveyor there, on an offshoot project. I drove thru the maze that sometimes changed by the hour. I would like to see it now that it’s completed. Love this series.

Gripping and inspiring. This podcast is journalism at its absolute best: outstanding storytelling and a genuine search for truth, in all its complexity. It’s an antidote to cynicism in our too-cynical age. I can’t recommend it enough.

I don’t think I have ever had a podcast that I devoured so quickly. It had political intrigue, inspiration, construction details about the difficulty of constructing 8 miles of tunnels and a great reporter. I have told everyone in my orbit about this podcast. Highly recommend.

Aside this being one of the most interesting and best reported things I’ve listened to in a long time, it left me feeling—dare I say it?—hopeful.

Absolutely stunning storytelling. I had no idea I’d be so hooked, but I am.

I heard about this from a civil engineering coworker, and it did not disappoint. As a MA transplant, and a bridge engineer in the city, this is a history lesson I definitely needed!

I haven't been so hooked on a podcast for a long time as I am with The Big Dig. It's about the construction of a tunnel and a bridge in Boston. It might sound super boring, but it's actually an incredible political and historical narrative. You learn a lot about how politics really...Read full review »

I initially thought this would be a real snooze fest but I couldn’t have been more wrong. The podcast is outstanding. With its mix of interesting historical narrative and interviews, it captures all the high and lowlights of the big dig in a way that keeps you fully engaged. First rate!!

This may be the best audio documentary I have ever heard. Great reporting and storytelling. Putting together the archival footage and thorough current interviews is a valuable capture of a significant event in Boston’s history. Kudos to the whole team.

Listening to the history of the Inner Belt and how the politically powerful stopped its construction is a lesson for all. Political power is the key. I never knew infrastructure could be so riveting (pun not even intended!). I went to college during the height of Big Dig discourse and learning the backstory was just incredible. Beautifully researched and pretended and produced. I can’t recommend this podcast enough

Talk about a dose of perspective! It was especially fascinating and poignant because I lived through the years and years of teeth gnashing about this project and spent a few of those years in the Boston area. We’ll reported, mostly interesting concept, and generally well paced. Usually a podcast like this would deserve a 5-star review, but episode 4 has some egregious exaggerations. I hope a lot of people listen to this podcast. This is a gem of a podcast, would put it right up there next to Serial’s work in terms of production and narrative. And in its own right, to find this quality of information on the big dig as an individual is basically impossible. I grew up and lived in Boston during the Big Dig. I had no idea how complex and layered all these stories were.
