“I don’t leave reviews often and I love this pod so I’m gonna give it 5 stars (i love it because Simmons thinks of sports and pop culture and frames them in a way no one else can. He also is a great interviewer). But I have to comment and say that Sarah Silverman episode was really rough. I’m 26 years old and bi-racial. I try to look at race as objectivity as possible, but I can’t help but not be offended by the way she defended herself over the blackface skit. She clearly is remorseful only because she didn’t get a part, she even took a shot at the other actor for not “sticking her neck out”. I went and watched the skit hoping to feel better but it only made me feel worse. In describing the skit, Sarah was in blackface and said and did way more racist things than her black counterpart, who says nothing offensive and is seen dressed up for only seconds. While the skit attempts to shed light on the difficulties of being a minority, ultimately Sarah decides, “if I were black, I’d kill my self”. I’d be willing to forgive if in the pod she didn’t seem so uneducated on any African American matters before or after this experience, said she didn’t wanna blah blah why it was wrong but then did exactly that, and had a vast amount of more sympathy in her own voice when speaking on her lost role then when speaking on people that are offended. It’s not like my life is ruined, but seeing a skit like that is a little upsetting and unsettling. Her “admission” on tv is on YouTube as well, and that might downplay the skit even more. I like Bill a lot and do not think he is racist, but I can’t say the same for Sarah and I’m a little surprised he seemed to like her quite a bit? Either way I hope she’s never on the pod again. This was not great to say the least and easily my least favorite BS episode ever”
