“There's a ton of Game of Thrones/ASOIAF podcasts around. This one is, hands down, no questions, the best. Lots of podcasts exist that recap episodes or chapters, discuss theories about the books or show, and speculate about future events.
But this podcast will make you smarter. It'll help you see the show and the books in a different and more nuanced light. Stefan and Sean are critics in the truest sense of the word, in that they provide critical and insightful analysis of the characters, plots, and larger themes of GOT/ASOIAF, as well as the broader world of entertainment. One of my favorite episodes is Episode 37, where they discuss theories about the books and the show. Most other podcasts or discussion boards talk about the what and the how of theories, but they never talk about why. How does the theory fit into the larger narrative? How does it contribute to the story, or reflect the larger themes that the author is playing with. Did you ever notice fascist themes in "The Walking Dead"? Me neither, but when Sean and Stefan unpack the themes of perpetual war and the glorification of strength and violence in TWD, you will too.
They take this approach to everything they do.
This podcast will help you see GOT/ASOIAF, and really any show or book, in a new and different light. You'll learn about the show and books, but you'll also learn how to understand new material in a new and different light.
