Well researched. Well done.

This was very well researched and presented. A tragic death of a little boy, another case of police looking no further than their prejudices. As ever, the mother blamed by a lot of men….police, the deadbeat drug dealing father, the media. Who knows how many other children & women were...Read full review »

Extraordinary reporting. We’ve all heard about (many have experienced) abused and neglected children for decades. Nothing ever changes for them. How can we do better?

As the juror said at the end, 30 years ago and what has changed. Post Covid, 13 years of austerity , poverty levels to be ashamed of as a country , mental health resources barely scratching surface , social care planning not remotely off the ground, and the Westminster bubble looking ever...Read full review »

Balanced, sensitive, engaging and sobering. True crime which feels inquisitive and never exploitative. Highly recommended. RIP Rikki.

Such a sad story. Well written, well presented. I feel bad for the kids because they lived such a hard life.

Slow and outrageously boring.

Thank you for bringing this awful tragedy to light and to all those who played their part in unravelling the mystery and delivering Justice. Sadly we are seeing lost generations growing up scrabbling around to exist and losing themselves in drugs and alcohol, seeking comfort in any form. When...Read full review »

Truly devastating for the family involved in this horrific murder. Sensitively done though am so important to get this families story out.

This was a heartbreaking listen, but the reporting was outstanding, it was done with a lot of empathy and measure. An important story to share.

This podcast was sensitively researched and presented. However the credibility of the podcast was somewhat undermined by the final episode, a discussion with “experts” to few of whom were able to grapple analytically with the core tension in child protection aka what criteria do we use to remove...Read full review »

I don’t normally listen to crimes involving children but this was a really interesting, well presented pod. Thank you for not going into detail about the crime. This was a really satisfying listen as we got the complete story, we heard it all through to the conviction of the perpetrator. Loved...Read full review »

Fantastic storytelling about a devastating case, however, the US stream features commercials for KidzBop which is highly inappropriate considering the content.

Horrifying and devastating case. Gripping story. They could’ve had more understanding for the mother who was in desperate need of support, or the broader social issues. Overall very well reported though.

Exceptional reporting please listen it’s fantastic. As a social worker I was so pleased to hear the being frank and honest with people. We are currently being so politically correct and making sure people are not offended that some cases are like watching the slow motion train wreck. I do not...Read full review »

And just another example of countless many of how detrimental police are to the justice system. These people should be in prison.

Top quality comes across when you listen to this, I think the journalist gets the balance between emotion and fact brilliantly, and is clearly unbiased which is what you want in all journalism.

I had scrolled pass this a few times looking for something to listen. I’m glad I chose it in the end. This had be gripped from the start and I binged until I knew the outcome. Then went to google for the images. This is definitely worth the listen and well done Winifred for sticking with it after...Read full review »

Very well done with emotion, facts and honest opinion. Being an ex Police Officer who worked on many murder investigations I am truly shocked at some of the failings discovered in the first investigation. Blinkers can by very costly. 5 stars.

So much of this podcast enraged me. Despite the mother being cleared and the real killer found - the podcast focuses a huge amount of energy on blaming his mother - a single woman raised in care with no support system and addiction who had been begging for help. It is no surprise that she...Read full review »

Brilliantly researched and very well told. I happened to hear an episode on the radio as I was driving and was so absorbed by it I looked up the rest and listened to all 10 episodes over 2 days. A sad story but one where the truth has finally been told. All credit to Winifred Robinson for this...Read full review »

This podcast gripped me in the first 10 minutes, the story telling used is like no other I almost felt as if I was sat in the court room. The twists and turns of the case were grasped so well in each episode. A truly amazing podcast!!

This podcast is so well done. The original police should hang their heads in shame. I felt for Ruth who was also a tragic victim.

Feel I really need to offer a review regarding this podcast. It is without doubt one of the most thorough and in-depth crime podcasts I have ever listened to. Winifred Robinson handles the investigation and reporting of the case with real sensitivity.
