Disappointing!
I just listened to the podcast on Science and Scripture with Scot McKnight. I found it both disappointing and alarming. Mr. McKnight seemed to speak in circles. He said we should not interpret science with the Bible and that we shouldn't interpret the Bible with science; however, it is the latter that he does. He, also, mentioned his belief that Adam and Eve are a "model"of how human beings are set before God in this world and have to obey God and if they don't they bring death into the world. Therefore, they are not real individuals. He further states that Jesus and Paul would not have believed they were a literal couple. If this is true, then Romans 5 is compeltely changed. If through one man sin entered the world is speaking of Adam as a collective model, then grace coming though one man, Jesus, too, would have to be a collective model of salvation. Would our obedience be our salvation? His interpretation opens up all kinds of problems. I find this alarming that this is being taught in our seminaries. This only scratches the surface of the problems in this unfortunate podcast.Read full review »
