Getting It Right
Though born in England and brought up in Scotlandit was odd that I was obsessed with the American Civil from an early age but (obviously) from a distance. As with most UK-based Civil War fanatics I was seduced by the romance of the South and its doomed rebellion. Tracy & Rich by going back to the real start (I'm 22 episodes in and the war hasnt started yet!) and covering the politics and the culture, the history and the economics have rudely shatterd my childhood biases - but in a good & entertaining way. They are are a great double act once you get into the swing of their gentle style. The pace is just right - thorough with plenty of time to consider the analysis they are presenting. Not the irreverant style - with jokes - Mike Duncan (History of Rome) or David Crowther (History of England) but a delightful journey nonetheless with new and valuable insights every episode. A great find!Read full review »
