Another update on this beclowned podcast. When will Jim jetison this Dave Mark. Today he went on and on about the Baltimore bridge collapse with an emotional overprint. What does this have to do with Apple? I don’t care what this joker thinks about the bridge just because you drove over it a few...Read full review »

Knowledgeable Apple superuser and pundit Jim Dalrymples weekly conversation with his friend - who couldn’t be less knowledgeable or experienced. Jim is 5/5. Dave is 0/5. Seriously, Dave just rambles on about things he has read about but has no experience with - or worse - has failed to dig...Read full review »

Jim is great but has no business having his own podcast as he never speaks for more than 10% of the show. Dave, OTOH, babbles incessantly. I keep trying the show every few months but nothing has changed and listening to Dave is just cringy.
jmd1033 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/04/23
For a while this was a regular listen for me, but slowly it spiraled down in quality that I have to unsubscribe already. The 2 don’t do much actual research and usually the show is just 2 guys giving their uneducated opinions on what’s trending on apple twitter news.

Long time listener, loving the show. Dave is more than excellent addition to Jim’s take on everything Apple.

I love the content of this podcast, and the hosts are awesome... but the volume differential between the two hosts is pretty bad. Dave’s volume is about 3x as loud as Jim’s.

I must say I listen to several Apple Podcast but this is my all time favorite and I’m anxiously waiting for the new episode to hit each week. Jim and Dave coverage and commentary is the best. Dave is amazing and so knowledgeable and his Curiosity have me laughing and learning each week. Jim...Read full review »

I’m used to the slanted views that Apple-centric podcasters present in their podcasts. But the frequent comments on this podcast by Dave Mark are just short of libelous. He champions the “privacy” buzzword to an extent that amounts to mass paranoia. We are not going to die because we use a...Read full review »

Nice podcast. Unfortunately, the volume levels are in serious need of adjustment. Jim’s soft spoken voice gets lost while his co-host is loud. Hopefully, they realize this because listening to it has become difficult and it’s really ashamed for such a nice podcast.

The show is always enjoyable. Jim is a kick, and has really interesting guests. If I had anything that I wish could be different, I think the audio level could be evened out a bit. (Jim can get to sounding really soft and distant, maybe 10dB or more down from the guest.) Other than that, keep up...Read full review »

Jim might as well mute himself during the entire show. It sounds like Jim whispers and his guests are loudmouths.

I liked this podcast, though Merlin did tend to blather a bit. But I think he left the podcast about a year ago, and then Jim threw together 4 or 5 with them with associated other folks, and now it's been silent for almost a year. Game over?Read full review »

Jim and Merlin have made a show that combines tech and rock music into an hour of delight every week. I have fiddled with guitar back in college and every time I listen I tell myself “I need to get back into playing”. And the tech (mostly Apple) talk is less about specs and more about how does...Read full review »

Why is it necessary to use such profanity. The occasional h*** and sh** can be overlooked but why all the GD's and the most recent F bomb. Come in Merlin, you are a much better communicator than that.Read full review »

Why is this called the Dalrymple Report when Merlin does 90% of the talking? Nevertheless, one of my favorite podcasts.

This podcast is a perfect mix between pop culture, technology, all things Apple, productivity and more. Show keeps getting better and has replaced other podcasts in this same genre.

The first dozen episodes sounded a little like Merlin was really struggling to get Jim engaged (or at least to cut down on the background noise by closing his office window or going inside or whatever) but as time has gone on, Jim has opened up, and they’ve developed a charming rapport that mixes...Read full review »

Awesome outdoors podcast about jet flyovers, dogs barking, birds chirping, cars & trucks driving by, and last but absolutely not least, WINDCHIMES!

Great stuff. Merlin and Jim remind me of the tortoise & the hare. Merlin, fast paced and hopping all over the place, Jim, slow and steady but always heading in the right direction. Could be a recipe for disaster in less accomplished hands but these guys draw you in and keep you listening.

Such a good combination, both Jim & Merlin feed off each other. They need each other just like Batman needed Robin. Abbott needed Costello. The list could go on. Continued success!

I started listening to the first episode, and quit about 15 minutes in. I just wasn’t interested in all of the music and guitar playing talk. I’m sure glad I gave it a listen all the way through, because now I am hooked! The combination of music and tech is just great, I love how Jim and...Read full review »

This new podcast has become one of my favorites. You never know what the topic is going to be, but it is likely that there will be some discussion around Apple centric tech, guitars, and 80-90s heavy metal bands. These guys crack me up!

If you enjoy Amplified, you will enjoy this show just as much. There is a great rapport between Jim and Merlin and I am glad that they have chosen to get this show going. Lots of good chat about tech, music, apple stuff and so on. Some pretty hilarious moments too. Thanks guys for doing this show!

Love the podcast! But was looking for added information and links to some of the things discussed. Very meagre show notes. In fact nothing of value. Aside from that. Love it!

I was quite excited to check out this show, as I enjoy Jim’s take on gear, both music-related and non. When I listened to the episode of Amplified where Merlin was a fill-in host I immediately thought “This is great, they should do more”. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one thinking that. Give it a listen. I promise that you won’t be disappointed. Tom @socalmacguy

A light and fun podcast from Merlin Mann and Jim Dalrymple that covers all things Mac, guitar, and living-in-the-world. A bit more interactive than some of their other podcasts which makes it feel more like even more cozy and intimate than your typical podcast.
