Definitely not for everyone a bit edgy at times but there are some good eldritch horror in here. I also found it helps me get to sleep. I do get some interesting cosmic horror nightmares. But slipping into a strange dream of unknowable things is better than no sleep.

This isn’t for everyone. First, you have to get over the voice, which I think was probably a bad choice mad years before. (Maeltpia has a similar problem). Then you have the high art prose style. These two are bonkers to combine, which is why I knocked off a star. Even if you don’t have CAPD...Read full review »

Or maybe just a bunch of bible thumpers from the south. This is such a great podcast. I can’t believe it was just recommended to my twisted and sick mind. I love it.

If you’re a fan of run on sentences, word jumbles that make little to no sense and style over subject, this is right up your alley. The voice acting is terrible, the writing is worse. If you taught an alien that has no experience with humans to copy, not imitate, the works of Lovecraft, you would...Read full review »

Very creepy tales, often disturbing and always original. Fans of Clive Barker and HP Lovecraft will enjoy the themes covered in the stories. Well told by the writer who narrates the story and very atmospheric.

I love Lovecraft but this is not it. This is too convoluted for me....there’s too much of everything. Lovecraft kept his stories well-balanced by reserving his prose for describing landscapes whilst maintaining simplicity in his plots.

When i first started to listen to this podcast I was disturbed. I’m a pretty jaded person and I was surprised that I had to switch podcasts because I was scared!! I walked away for a couple of weeks until I decided to get past the “altered” scary voice and listen to the story. The writing and...Read full review »

I’m a fan of Knifepoint Horror, Magnus Archives, and the White Vault, and now that all of those are on hiatus, I went searching for something legit creepy and found very little that wasn’t boring. I’m so glad I stumbled upon this. The story that prompted this review was “Gift of the Crossroads.”...Read full review »

Fantastic series that I just stumbled upon, which I am so glad. Will positively buy all the hardcover books. Cosmic, imaginative horror at its finest that would make lovecraft proud. Keep up the great work my friend!

This podcast is perfect for those who love Lovecraftian horror, or just those who appreciate someone who writes at a higher level than most authors. The prose are exquisitely crafted and the stories are gripping and enjoyable to either read or listen to. My favorite podcast!

Sharkchild? More like shark bait. Writers who go on (and on and on) about themselves and the burden of their craft are tedious in the extreme. Perhaps if his prose were not so overblown. Being a rabid fan of Poe and Lovecraft, I like what it seems Sharkspawn is trying to do, but if after these...Read full review »

I see comparisons to other great authors, however I’ve listened to all of Sharkchilds stories on podcast and I would have to say Bravo! Bravo for your imagination and great balance of fantasy and horror/suspense. I find your tales original and inspiring. Even if you write in New England your...Read full review »

I'm happy the episodes got longer and it's also great that your not doing that bad spoken word dark beat poetry thing you had been doing for so long. Maybe now you can just read, perhaps use a little soundsaping and read in your natural voice. You don't need a fake voice or gimmicks...Read full review »

Some good Lovecraft-inspired writing. The narrator does overdo things a bit with the voice recording effects though. The vocal slightly spoils the overall effect of the very imaginative writing.

The perfect blend of horror, sci-fi, metaphysical and weird fiction. At times derivative, often wholly original, always thoroughly enjoyed.

Horrid writing. Try just writing the way you would tell the story to a friend. A friend who is alive, not Hawthorne or Poe.

I have been listening to Sharkchilds podcasts for the last 2 years now and they only get better. I have purchased all of the Dark Verse books, and I hate reading! I have listened to the Dark Verse over the last year now and look forward to every new episode. Sharkchild seems to put a lot of time and effort into his Lovecraftian style of writing and it shows. Check out The Dark Verse. You won't be disappointed.

Terrible narration. Mediocre stories. And ep91, looks like someone read JoJo Part 4 and learned about Cheap Trick. Burn the pictures, okay?

Just listened to the first episode and it feels like I'm listening to a lecture about horror audio rather than the story itself. There is clearly creative and descriptive language being used but the delivery is lacking. I hope to hear improvement in the coming episodes!Read full review »

I’m a big fan of H.P. Lovecraft’s stories, and was searching for a podcast where those stories were read aloud. I found no such thing, but came upon The Dark Verse instead.
