I wanted to like this podcast
I am very interested in the subject matter that this podcast deals with. I am going through a complete deconstruction/reconstruction of my faith and beliefs, and I love listening to and reading about the subject. The name of this podcast caught my eye, and I was hoping that it would offer some thought provoking content. Alas, I was mistaken. The hosts just graze the surface on the topics that they cover. Many of the topics that they address have great potential, but lack the depth that I was hoping for. They jump from one thing to another while just scratching the surface on each topic. Much of the time they throw in some random "mind blowing" quote from a book they are reading, and instead of going deeper into what the author was talking about, they jump right into this, high fiving, groaning, chest bumping, bro fest about how mind blowing the quote was for them. The most distracting part of the podcast definitely has to be how hyper and enthusiastic the hosts are. Enthusiasm is great, but they take it way to far. When someone says something that they agree with, something that resonates with them, it sounds like they are having an orgasm... I'm fine with getting excited about a topic or some quote that you like, but the extent to which they take it starts to sound like nails on a chalk board. I was excite to listen to the interviews with some of the people that they have slotted for upcoming podcast, but I can't seem to get past the hyper a.d.d. Nature of the hosts.Read full review »

More reviews of The Deconstructionists
Like many of the other reviews state this podcast skimps on the depth it absolutely has the potential for. This depth is replaced with hype and cliche statements of "having their minds blown". For two guys trying to "deconstruct" the Christian faith, it comes off more like two...Read full review »

I so appreciate this podcast. The length, production, questions and freedom guests have to share is so good. I recommended it to many friends. As an itinerant minister in his late 30s that spends a lot of time with pastors and leaders, this is one of the most helpful podcasts for resource and...Read full review »

Reading other reviews I see many others share my problems with this podcast. The guests and topics discussed are right up my alley but I can't stand the way the hosts (one in particular) continually interrupt during interviews usually with nothing more than some kind of exclamatory...Read full review »
