Interesting but has some problems
I listen to this podcast as someone who fundamentally disagrees with the hosts and many of the guests on a number of things. That being said I do enjoy interacting with those I disagree with and I appreciate getting a chance to interact with the best formulations of a given position, even if I still end up disagreeing. This podcast has a great premise and the interview questions are usually pretty good. I also appreciated the fact that the hosts had enough self-awareness to have a prominent evangelical leader on to discuss his book even if they disagree with him. That raised my appreciation even more. The biggest issue I have had with the podcast, as others have already stated, is the seemingly feigned enthusiasm that is gushed as a response to everything that comes out of interviewees' mouthes. Do not get me wrong, most of what I have heard is certainly interesting. It is rarely earth shatteringly, mind-blowingly, orgasmic as the hosts like to make it seem with the noises that come from their mouths, however. Maybe it is simply their personalities to be overly affirming. If this was a personal discussion I would be much more inclined to show grace. The reality is that we are talking about what should be a professional podcast and the above issue does nothing but distract from the otherwise worthwhile content. On the bright side, at least these guys don’t sound like they are perpetually drunk and love to hear the sound of their own voices like Tripp Fuller on Homebrewed. I am thankful for that. If you guys could restrain yourselves a little bit or provide more polemical/devil's advocate questioning to even out the fan-boy approach I will bump this review to 4 or even 5 stars.Read full review »

I like the subject matter in this podcast and guests like Rob Bell, Peter Rollins, Richard Rohr, et all. But as another reviewer stated, "The most distracting part of the podcast definitely has to be how hyper and enthusiastic the hosts are." True, it's very irritating and it tends to...Read full review »
