Excellent podcast with many lessons offered in the nature of man and woman; nuances of startups and Silicon Valley; America’s fading corporate aristocracy and more. Rebecca Jarvis and her team have done an excellent job telling a very twisted and complex story.

I’ve listened to every episode of The Dropout at least three times. It also inspired me to purchase the audiobook which I have since listened to. The advantage of the podcast is that we get to listen to the voices of the people affected she’s really impactful. I wonder if they could’ve just have...Read full review »

What great reporting and story telling of a classic case of what can go wrong with large investments. Sometimes, the smartest people in the room show terrible lapses in judgement. I wonder who else had an opportunity to invest and passed (Bill Gates? Warren Buffett?). Some questions I hope...Read full review »

The fascinating true story about seeking fame for all the wrong reasons. Raised by a narcissistic father obsessed with hereditary entitlement, Elizabeth Homes used her intelligence, charisma, and good looks to manipulate venture capitalists, ex-presidents, even movie stars into making her the...Read full review »

It’s a testament to the quality of this production that I am completely hooked after three episodes. The only thing that’s disappointing is that I can’t binge. I just finished the Whistleblower episode. I’ve heard Carreyrou on other podcasts and despite my familiarity with the Theranos debacle,...Read full review »

Really enjoying this podcast. So well produced -- top notch!

If you haven’t read Carreyrou’s book, you might find this interesting as it appears to be simply a summary of what’s in it. Pity they didn’t release more of the depositions.

Not since Serial have I been so addicted to a podcast! Fantastic storytelling & reporting. I find the deposition tapes of Elizabeth and interviews with witnesses fascinating. Can’t wait until Wednesday!

Awesome podcast .... the manipulation, the lies, the money, what a story

This is a well done story about the incredible fraud undertaken by E Holmes at Theranos. A shame it took so long for this fraud to be uncovered. By why hasn’t David Boies been subject to public criticism and possibly bar sanctions if his actions on behalf of the company crossed any lines (a...Read full review »

Some reviewers who read Bad Blood are disappointed by this podcast. I disagree. After reading the very excellent Bad Blood, I was hungry for more and dug around online a lot — I watched Elizabeth Holmes interviews, etc. For me, this podcast is the perfect post-book experience. So far I haven’t...Read full review »

I became tense while listening to episode four. This is an exciting podcast that keeps you on the edge of your chair wondering what’s gonna happen next. How things like this happen is so interesting. I’m fascinated by how deeply into a hole these people were able to dig themselves. Was it a scam from the beginning or did the lies get bigger until there was no way out. Really good podcast

This a a great story, well told. Amazing to be on the journey as the company rises and fall, and to hear how so many were fooled or intimidated to be silent. I'm amazed at how far the deciet went, and how it could last so long without being exposed.

I’m on episode 4 & loving this story. It’s scary how easily people can be tricked.

I read articles through the years on Elizabeth rise to stardom. Her con was well-crafted and she was tenacious in keeping her con alive. This is a cautionary tale about the allure of narcissists and the terrible damage they can exact. It also points to the sickness in corporate America where...Read full review »

Love Rebecca’s guidance through this epic takedown. I watched it go down live as someone working in the media in Silicon Valley and revisiting it more in depth via this podcast is a treat.

An interesting story but Jarvis telegraphs her opinions from the first few seconds. Would have been more compelling if she had set it up to believe the the promise only to twist the story in the middle. Missed opportunity. A bid to pedantic

First, who’s idea was it for the annoying knocking sound to play in the background? I don’t know how I managed to keep listening to the podcast with that sound playing. So irritating! Then episodes 2-4 basically repeated much of the same information. You can listen to episodes 1 and 4 and be...Read full review »

This podcast is really a long radio news stories broken out into a few chapters, one released each week. It is focused and polished. It isn't your typical podcast designed to go on forever. Like others, I read a some bad reviews and almost bypassed this podcast. I’m so glad I didn’t! I have no idea what the negative reviews were about. Like reading every 5th page of Bad Blood. If the book is too much, this is a simplified story for people who want to hear about Theranos while they do the dishes or drive to work.

Fascinating story but mostly reports on the framework of what everyone already knows. I really do like the podcast but I wanted more information and got tired of waiting a week between episodes so I just bought the John Carreyrou book Bad Blood to better get my fix.

I’m mesmerized by the story, it was not widely reported on (who knows what her connections still are), and to hear the details of how such a scam was possible is very enlightening. Can’t wait for the next episode.

Exceptional investigative journalism, exposing the truth and the lies that so many people believed, and may still believe, through media manipulation. How so many high profile people were blindly following the lead of a few accomplished scammers is truly remarkable.

There is a book called ‘Bad Blood’ that was written by the Wall Street Journal investigator who broke the story; it’s 1,000x better than the podcast and way more detailed. I heard about this from a story on ABC news and have thoroughly enjoyed it. It is fascinating (and disturbing) how the company grew so large with so little to back up the growth. I think it is well produced and Rebecca does a great job reporting and telling the story.

With no prior knowledge of Theranos’ downfall, I am thoroughly enjoying this podcast. It’s too bad that so many others who have already studied this company in detail are 💩💩💩 all over it. Listen for yourself to see if you enjoy it.

I don’t write reviews on Podcasts but this one is really amazing. I only knew the mass media story surrounding Theranos. Had no idea the extent of the fraud and how deep the story is. I’m going to read Bad Blood but this podcast is great story telling of Theranos’ downfall.
