From title of episodes, this could be comprehensive if not exhaustive history of western food. Civilizations and Societies that were the last one to invent and develop human food. It’s more like 1000 years from now, someone makes a show about History of Technology and all episodes are about...Read full review »

I started to listen to this podcast because I needed to write a short weekly post for school about a podcast relating to history/food, but even now after graduating, I routinely come back to listen. It is well done, covers interesting topics, and is a really cool mesh of history and other areas!...Read full review »

Enjoyable stories. No complaints at all there. Too bad I can’t hardly hear them. Granted, I listen to these to help go to sleep, but the music! It’s kinda odd to begin with but is way too loud, seemingly endless, and makes it hard to hear the speaker. Very distracting. At the end of the stories...Read full review »

So well made. The stories are absolutely captivating. Who would’ve thought food history was so incredible. The research and effort put into each episode is so apparent. I literally saviour episodes and ration them for the right journey where I know I will be able to listen intently and catch...Read full review »

Nick Charlie Key makes the history of food fun! A whimsical look at the stories behind our favorite foods. You won’t be disappointed for checking out this splendid narrative podcast. Great theme music BTW.

I first learnt about this show when it popped up on my feed on Amazon Music. And since then I have been listening to it every week. Being a major foodie and also being curious, this show has been a major win-win for me. However while I love the content and the theme my only issue is with the...Read full review »

If you are somehow craving yet another history podcast from a British/male/colonialist lens, you may find the episodes interesting. But hardly enough to justify being comprised of one quarter advertisements.

I came across this podcast ‘by accident’. And what a great find! Easy listening and short enough for trips around town (I hate having to constantly play/pause podcasts and/or audiobooks while running errands). Very interesting topics discussed and I simply love the catchy headlines!!

This is a brilliant show - a really eloquent host with a fantastic turn of phrase and the content interesting, educational and had me giggling over the washing up (not an easy task!). Now just have to ration the episodes available…

Superbly entertaining histories of particular foods! For example, the maggot cheese of Sardinia episode was morbidly fascinating. Hilarious episode on historical competitive eating. Each episode is a little historical gem and very well produced and narrated.

Cite sources. Too much of the da Vinci episode is lifted from other articles written years before this pod, with only slight tweaks.
