“I’m really passionate about personal finance, and I’m a millennial living in NYC- I was so excited for this podcast! Unfortunately, the execution is falling a bit short of the promise for me, but in ways that can improve! I think a lot of the guests could use a meatier intro, with more about their professional and personal background before the conversation begins, so the questions can be more targeted to finance? The rapid-fire questions are actually quite thoughtful and could work better unwound within the body of the interview. I also think the host would totally benefit from some interviewing training/experience. Unfortunately, the conversations have felt like she’s trying to “win” the conversation, and trying to edge in with her own soapboxing or references, rather than listening and asking perceptive follow-ups that would coax better insight from the guest. The best episode was actually the first, where the exchange was with someone she knew better, so maybe wasn’t trying to impress as much? It was definitely more of a balanced exchange, and therefore much more usuful AND pleasurable. I totally get that it’s tough, I do public interviews for my work and it’s taken years of experience and training to overcome inserting yourself in these ways, but I’d love to see where this show could go with these kinks worked out!”
