Episode 12 thermal bridging
Great episode. Really appreciate the building science talk. In the pacific northwest we're leaning towards 2x6 walls with exterior mineral wool but it's still rarely done because our marine climate doesn't command it. I just recently did fhb#250 thermal break on the walls and I can't wait to do it again. IG@gandycarpenter. So it was great to hear you talk about it. My situation was 2x4 studs and exterior insulation wasn't an option. Normally 2" material is ripped from 2x8's and glued and nailed to achieve a 5 1/2" wall for R20 batts. Sheets of 1" XPS and 1" ply cut easily to 1 1/2" wide and glue away. So quick and thermally broken at the same time. Cheers guys keep it upRead full review »
