So appreciative of Flynn’s approach to mental health
In my early 20’s I lost childhood friends to suicide which was earth shattering. I spent the next few years obsessively trying to understand how they could have felt like there was no way out…I read so many authors, psychologists, spiritual teachers, etc in the hopes that I could figure out what we can do to prevent more young people from feeling this way. Since I knew my friends from a young age, I just didn’t buy the “they struggled with depression and mental health and there was no way to help them”, which seemed to be the message at their funerals and in their obituaries. I knew their lives could have turned out differently. I’m at peace with their deaths now, but I think our approach to mental health is inadequate at best. There are 3 people whose philosophies, I believe, are imperative to our understanding of mental health, human development, and just what life is and why we’re here. Flynn is one of them. When flynn said, “the ultimate medicine is to become exactly who you want to be…creating the version of you that you want to be”, I couldn’t agree more. I think this perspective is what my friends never received, and I don’t think they were ever allowed to explore that idea even as kids. They were hospitalized for months, given medication and the typical treatment for mental health disorders, and yet these modalities didn’t help. I know there is much variability in mental health, but I believe what Flynn is saying is just as important as being offered medication. The other 2 people whose work I believe in are Brian Weiss and the general idea of past lives and our life purpose, and Fred Rogers’s quote, “I don’t think anyone can grow unless they are loved exactly as they are now, appreciated for what they are rather than what they will be”. Thank you Flynn for sharing your experiences and insight! I can’t wait to learn more.

Immediately dove in and listened to all three releases in one day… I genuinely love his content and how he thinks about...Read full review »
