Not what the title suggests!
I usually love Hazel’s podcasts - she’s interesting to listen to and not afraid to call out nonsense. However this episode allegedly on wearable technology lets the series down. If you want to learn about how wearable tech generally can be useful, then this isn’t the podcast for you - if you want to listen to a 51 minute long advert for the specific Whoop wearable, then fill your boots. In fairness to Hazel, she is upfront about the podcast being sponsored by Whoop, but plenty of other podcasters have sponsorship without feeling the need to do an entire episode long advert to “earn” it. It was also disappointing to hear her allowing suggestions like “only eating when the sun is up” and “watch the sunset to tell your body it’s ready to sleep” as health promoting behaviours without challenging at all, it might be be health promoting in an ideal world, but allowing that there are parts of the U.K. which in winter only get around 5 - 6 hours of daylight, it’s hardly practical! All in all I was left feeling that there was rather too much “woo” in Whoop!
