Good clean fun for your inner child and more than just nostalgia!
Two affable chaps (including Gerry's son no less!) talking about the often overlooked and under-rated legacy of Gerry Anderson's iconic Supermarionation and other imaginative live-action series which defined a genre of TV production and became a staple of childhood worldwide. Like me, you probably came for the Thunderbirds nostalgia but got caught up with Captain Scarlet and stuck around because of Terrahawks! Beware that the podcast theme music is an earworm and you'll be humming it for days! The hidden gem and a major highlight to each episode is access to major players in the Anderson universe franchise from voice artists to musicians, graphic designers and production staff. The conversations are candid and warm with a good dose of 'Where are they now?' But it is not just all nostalgia -- episode commentaries bring fresh ideas to old faces. Jamie usually teases about new projects on the boil and it is a tribute and testament that his father's work and legacy are still so relevant in the 21st Century and modern life. This podcast is an antidote and an oasis amid serious grown-up stuff during the working week; where you can nourish your inner child and not be embarrassed to release your retro fan geek. I am looking forward to the series delving into new and unfinished projects, such as Gemini Force (hopefully with an interview with author MG Harris who completed the brilliant trilogy of novels -- Gery Anderson's last project -- as well as 'What Ifs' like 'The Day After Tomorrow' and 'Space Police' (not to be confused with 'Star Cops')). Pod 9 is a lot of fun! Once met Wayne at Toy Fair, where he was demonstrating products, and he was really interesting talking about the stage show and doing the mo-cap for the Captain Scarlet pilot.
