Best Actual Play podcast I've heard
I've started listening to actual play podcasts only in this last 8 months or so, but I have to say, this is superb. They've managed to capture the feel of a gaming table that's open and accessible to a lot of people (not too many or too extreme off-color jokes but plenty of humor; focus on story more than mechanics, but not ignoring mechanics either), but they've also put out really solid content very consistently for 11 weeks now. It's clear that they've got decent audio equipment, and everyone seems to have their own mic, so for once we don't have the usual problem of some people sounding like they're bellowing the whole time and other people being barely audible. My one criticism--which I see other reviewers have raised--is that it would be great to get a female voice (or, better, voices) in the mix. The other actual-plays I've listened to have that, and it reflects the current face of RPG gaming really well. Of course, the impression here at least is that it's just a bunch of guys who decided they wanted to try this out, but come on--none of you has a girlfriend, sister, or friend who's interested in playing? :)Read full review »

This is a great listen as an actual-play podcast. Really entertaining, but also with really high production value. No one is eating on mic, no one is too far away from a microphone, just really top notch performance actual-play. Great show, guys. Keep up the good work.

If you have ever played any kind of RPG, love books on tape, or have a face!!!...you will love this podcast. It is like listening to a book on tape only the characters in the book can comment on and change the narrative. The mechanics and gameplay are all there for gamers tuning in, but for...Read full review »
